A family from the edge of the Erg Chebbi
We were born in Merzouga, we learned the dunes on foot before we ever drove them, and we have spent the last fifteen years showing guests the desert we grew up in.
Merzouga ATV Tours began with one quad and one guide
The company started at the edge of the village with a single machine, a mechanic's toolbox and a phone number written on a card. Guests arriving in Merzouga wanted to see the erg properly, and the tours on offer were run from Marrakech by people who had never slept in the sand. We thought the desert should be shown by the people who live in it.
Fifteen years later we run quads, buggies, 4×4s, camels and horses out of the same village, with our own workshop, our own animals and a team of guides who all grew up within a few kilometres of the dunes. Everything is still booked directly with us — no agency in the middle, no commission added to your price.
What has not changed is how we work. Small groups, private departures, honest prices told to you before you arrive, and machines and animals looked after properly because they are ours and because the desert does not forgive shortcuts.
Four things we do not compromise on
Local guides only
Every guide is from Merzouga or the villages around it. They know the routes, the wind, the safe faces of the dunes and the families in Khamlia — because it is where they live.
Private by default
You never share a departure with strangers. Small groups mean a guide who can actually look after you, and the desert stays quiet the way it should be.
Real safety, not paperwork
Licensed and insured, helmets for every rider, machines serviced in our own workshop after each day, and briefings before anyone sets off.
Care for animals and sand
Our horses and camels work short shifts with long rests and see a vet regularly. We keep to established tracks so the erg is not scarred for the next people who come.

What our guests say
“The sunset quad tour was the highlight of our two weeks in Morocco.”
They picked us up from our riad exactly on time, the bikes were in great condition and our guide stopped at all the best spots for photos. No pressure, no hidden extras.
Marta & LuisBarcelona · October“Honest, easy to arrange and genuinely local.”
Everything was agreed over WhatsApp within an hour. We combined a camel ride to the camp with a buggy the next morning, and the price stayed exactly what we were quoted.
Sophie D.Lyon · March“A night at the camp under the Erg Chebbi we will not forget.”
Dinner around the fire, drums, and complete silence afterwards. They took our two children out on the horses in the morning and looked after them the whole way.

Our base is in the village itself, a few minutes from the dune edge — not in Marrakech, Fes or Ouarzazate. If you are staying anywhere in Merzouga, Hassi Labied or Khamlia we will collect you.
Registered as Merzouga ATV Tours Sarl, licensed by the Moroccan tourism authorities and insured for every activity we run. Ask us for the paperwork and we will send it.
